Patrick Muchangi

Patrick Muchangi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the founder of Muchangi Patrick & Associates Advocates. He built his practice in litigation — criminal defence and civil disputes, including two reported High Court murder acquittals and a land dispute appeal — before relocating to Nairobi in 2026 to specialise in data protection and AI governance.

He is currently completing formal certification in this specialism, building on a year of sustained independent study. His focus is helping SMEs, startups and organisations adopting AI tools translate legal obligations into practical compliance — bringing the same evidentiary rigour that won contested courtroom arguments to compliance and governance advisory. Every engagement is handled personally; there is no junior team it gets passed down to.

    Republic v Muthoni

    [2023] KEHC 17976 (KLR). Lead defence counsel; full acquittal in a High Court murder trial at Nyahururu.

    Republic v Komba

    [2026] KEHC 4850 (KLR). Defence counsel; acquittal at close of the prosecution's case in a High Court murder trial.

    Chege v Ngumba

    [2024] KEELC 3499 (KLR). Appellate representation in an Environment and Land Court dispute.

    Law Society of Kenya v Attorney General & 3 others

    [2023] KEELC 20682 (KLR). Acted for LSK in a constitutional petition challenging GMO maize importation (unsuccessful).

    LSK v Chief Registrar of the Judiciary & 4 others

    [2025] KEHC 4690 (KLR). Acted for LSK protecting two minors' privacy; secured a favourable ruling restraining disclosure of their identities.

    Also represented several further clients pro bono in murder trials reported in the Kenya Law Reports.
